Hello readers! I was able to review BabyBond‘s nursing covers, of which they sent me the Couture in Espresso. Gorgeous color, by the way!
Let me state – first off – that I am not nursing, but I wish that I was. The breast pump and storing accessories were sitting in my room, waiting to be used. I was so serious about breastfeeding. Unfortunately, I had an awful post-delivery nurse, and there were no lactation consultants at the hospital where I delivered my precious little girl. I did NOT want to give Isabella that already mixed 2-oz Similac nursette bottle. DID. NOT. The nurse gave up. She tried “teaching” me how to breast-feed properly. Yes, that was my fault for
not researching how to before-hand…but still. We tried for five minutes to get Isabella to latch, but the nurse decided to just give Isabella the bottle. Yes, I was robbed of not only breast-feeding my child…but being the first person to feed my child, regardless of how.
Enough of my ranting and on to the product review! If I were to have breast-fed, I would definitely have purchased this product. All the nursing covers I’ve window-shopped for seem to cover the baby, which doesn’t allow for eye contact. Eye contact is essential when feeding your baby, breast AND bottle. Babies love examining your facial features, and once their coordination is up to par…they’ll start rubbing their tiny
hands along your cheek…or pull your lip – as if they’re trying to rip it off your face! The fact that it covers MOM and not BABY is the most important feature about the BabyBond nursing cover, to me.
BabyBond was started by Missy in December of 2006. Her vision began after desiring a product that didn’t
cover baby. She took one of her husband’s shirts and designed what would now be known as BabyBond (previously Slurp&Burp).
BabyBond’s slogan is –
“BabyBond covers mom, not baby.
Privacy without isolation.
After all, dining is social.
Nurse. Converse Bond.“
I was going to include a picture of myself using this product, but I don’t think that’d be a true representation of the product – as I do not breastfeed. But, I do have pictures that I took of the nursing cover!
Here is the description of the BabyBond Couture nursing cover that I received:
“BabyBond Couture is adjustable creating a custom fit as your body changes after baby arrives. A hybrid
between nursing top and belly band, it can be worn to nurse from the top or the bottom of your shirt so it works with your entire wardrobe. When worn like a sash, it functions like a nursing top. When worn like a
belt, it functions like a belly band. Rolls up into self-storing pouch.“
I love that last feature, as well! The BabyBond nursing cover is 100% COTTON. It feels so nice, I think I
might snuggle up with it later! (I’m the kind of person that likes to cuddle with things…Isabella does, too. She must have gotten that from Mommy!)
The Couture nursing cover comes in FIVE aesthetically-pleasing colors – Espresso (the color I chose!),
Hudson, Riviera, Classic, and Barcelona.
Espresso is a dark brown. BabyBond says – “That dark brown coordinates with all earth tones”.
Hudson is black. BabyBond says – “Basic black easily blends without drawing attention”.
Riviera is turquoise. BabyBond says – “Turquoise allows eyes to sparkle and nerves to calm”.
Classic is navy. BabyBond says – “Navy is perfect when wearing jeans”.
Barcelona is gray. BabyBond says – “Charcoal gray is a sophisticated accent”.
BabyBond offers two other nursing covers! Original and Flex!
All of their nursing covers are $35, which is cheaper than nursing covers found at high-end retailers. With such a decent price, you’d figure it wouldn’t be worth anything. It is!
