Gender Myths + Predictions

gender-myths

Since I’m finding out if my baby is a boy or a girl in a few weeks, I thought it would be fun to discuss gender myths/old wives tales with y’all, as well as what we here in the BBF household predict the baby will be. Old wives tales is for entertainment purposes only and not meant to be taken totally seriously.

We have an appointment for at an elective ultrasound place on April 7th, but we won’t know the gender until our reveal party two days later on the 9th!

MORNING SICKNESS: YES or NO

I’ve had a few bouts of slight nausea, but nothing that I would consider morning sickness. Apparently, the lack of morning sickness indicates that the baby might be a boy.

MOM IS CARRYING: HIGH or LOW

I’m unable to bold and underline either of these. I’m plus-size, which means my bump won’t pop until a little later. I carried kind of high with Bella, and she obviously turned out to be a girl.

CRAVINGS: SALTY or SWEET

Prior to my pregnancy, I loved sweets, but since I found out I was pregnant, I’ve pushed the chocolate aside and now prefer salty foods. Another point towards the boys.

CHINESE CALENDAR: BOY or GIRL

I conceived this child at the age of 26 in the month of January, which says BOY.

HEARTBURN: YES or NO

It’s still too early to say whether I’ll bypass heartburn this pregnancy. I had the worst luck with heartburn when I was pregnant with Bella. Not only was she born a girl, but she was born with a head full of jet black hair…all over her body!

BALANCE: CLUMSY or GRACEFUL

Usually I’m quite clumsy, but since I’ve become pregnant, I’m a bit more graceful. I trip a lot, but I haven’t tripped once so far! LOL! Here’s a point for the girls!

HEADACHES: YES or NO

I’ve only had two headaches this pregnancy, but that’s all. I’m going to give this one to the girls.

MOOD: MOODY or HAPPY

I’m equally both. Some days I’m realllllly happy. Some days I want to snap everyone’s head off.

BABY’S HEART RATE: >140 or <140

I’ve only been able to hear the baby’s heartbeat a few times, but it’s been under 140bpm every time. I’m excited to go to my next ultrasound for my NT scan to see if it’s still the same.

SKIN TEXTURE: SOFT or DRY

My skin is dry, but it was dry before, and it’s more than likely due to the cold weather rather than the sex of my baby. Nevertheless, another point for a boy.

MAYAN CALENDAR: BOY or GIRL

If your age at conception is an even number, but the month you conceived is odd, supposedly you’ll be expecting a boy!

RAMZI METHOD: BOY or GIRL

Some women like to use the Ramzi method as a way of determining the sex of their baby very early on, around 6-8 weeks. It takes into account placenta position and the side of the uterus that baby is on. It’s a little confusing, but according to this method, I’m having a boy.
