As my daughter has become older, there has been one constant in her life, and that is Learning Resources. We have utilized their products to aid in fine motor skill mastery, hand/eye coordination, preschool readiness, and much more. They have a plethora of educational activities and tools to help your child learn. We were recently sent two amazing products for us to provide our insight on – Create-a-Maze and Tumble Trax Magnetic Marble Run.

create-a-maze

Create-a-Maze, which is recommended for ages 5 and up, is a brain-boosting game that is not only a blast to play, but also builds engineering and critical thinking skills that are crucial to a child’s development. It comes with a maze board and base, 17 maze pieces, 4 balls and 10 activity cards.

Even though this is geared towards kids in their early education years, I found this game to be exciting at 24 years old. I followed the instructions on the activity card, and some of the tasks were pretty tricky! Bella finally decided to join in, but didn’t grasp the concept right away. She thought it was more like playing soccer with your finger than a maze.

However, after I made her aware of the instructions and point of the game, she started to begin to understand. Her favorite part was getting the ball in and out of the green swirly piece (seen in the picture above)! Some of the tasks presented difficulty for my daughter, but with a little aid for Mommy, she managed to get the ball into the goal!

I believe Create-a-Maze would be best to play among siblings or friends (1-4 players), whether at home or in a classroom setting. To make things even more competitive, you could time how long it takes to complete the challenging tasks on the activity cards and to get the ball into the goal!

tumble-trax

Tumble Trax Magnetic Marble Run was another fun educational game that we received for my 5 year old daughter to try out. Bella actually enjoyed this one more, probably due to all the magnetic pieces, and what 5 year old doesn’t love magnets? To play, you need a magnetic surface – like a dry erase board in a classroom or a fridge at home. We used our refrigerator to play the marble run.

Included is 14 brightly colored and patterned magnetic foam pieces, 4 marbles and 10 activity cards. The foam pieces vary in length and design to provide a brain-boosting challenge. Bella had so much fun placing the marble at the top and watching it roll all the way down to the bottom.
