VeggieTales Merry Larry and the True Light of Christmas DVD (Featuring Si Robertson) Review

I’m about to show my age here. I grew up on VeggieTales. Every summer, my mom would enroll my brother and I into Vacation Bible School at our home church. We would do crafts, play games, learn about Jesus and his love and at the end of the day, we would sit and watch VeggieTales movies on the projector screen. These are memories I will cherish for the rest of my life, and I want my daughter to have those same ones.

We were recently sent a copy of VeggieTales Merry Larry and the True Light of Christmas to review. My daughter is already fond of the characters in VeggieTales and was very excited to watch it! This movie features Si Robertson from Duck Commander as “Silas” the Narrator.

This movie is so heartwarming. When the Christmas season rolls around, we pay attention to the lights, the music and the shopping…but we often forget what Christmas is TRULY about. Merry Larry and the True Light of Christmas teaches children that while it’s okay to enjoy the lights and music, we need to focus on the reason for the season – the birth of Jesus Christ.

Additionally, this movie includes a new silly song with Larry called “Wrapped Myself Up for Christmas”. Isabella thoroughly enjoyed this song and kept asking me to “play it again”. It also includes a new song from Owl City (featuring TobyMac) titled “Light of Christmas”.

Merry Larry and the True Light of Christmas is the perfect movie to watch during this season, especially the night before Christmas.

The VeggieTales website offers coloring pages to go with Merry Larry and the True Light of Christmas. So even when the movie is over, you can still bring home the message!
